WHAT I'M LISTENING TO
Every week I [try to] post a Tunesday video on the Non sequo blog, but it's often a decision between a few jams that have caught my fancy in the days prior. I've created a new Youtube channel - check it out here - and a new playlist with what I'm listening to, which you can find below. I will continue to add to it as I discover new tracks... or as they discover me. Either way, enjoy! (:

FOOD
![]() WHAT I'M EATING/COOKING/BAKING
...besides bacon obviously! The housemates and I are planning on making an Oreo cheesecake tomorrow for the simple reason that both Oreos and Philly are both on offer at the moment! It's going to be a goooood weekend! (: Check out my Nom Nom board on Pinterest for more food ideas! There's a little sneak peek just over there on the left! Buen probecho! |
LITERATURE

WHAT I'M READING
The majority of my reading is uni work related at the moment as I'm in the throes of paper writing and exam prep. When procrastinating I often find myself reading articles related to social enterprise and running a business in preparation for the startup life into which I shall soon be thrust.
BOOKS
Bookwise, I started reading both Battle Royale ( Koushun Takami) and Crazy Love (Francis Chan) recently, but have very sadly had to put them to the side for a bit until after the assessment period. Will try to finish (and possibly review) them soon enough.
Here's a quick summary of the two books for anyone that's interested:
Battle Royale:
"Koushun Takami's notorious high-octane thriller is based on an irresistible premise: a class of 42 junior high school students are taken to a deserted island where, as part of a ruthless authoritarian program, they are electronically collared, provided with weapons of varying potency, and sent out onto the island.
If they are in the wrong part of the island at the wrong time, their collars will explode. If they band together to save themselves a collar will explode at random. If they try to escape from the island, they will be blown up. Their only chance for survival lies in killing their classmates.
Criticized as violent exploitation when first published in Japan - where it then proceeded to become a runaway bestseller - Battle Royale is a Lord of the Flies for the 21st century, and a potent story of politics and survival in a dog-eat-dog world." (from Amazon)
If you're thinking "Hey, this sounds just like The Hunger Games," then #awkward! This book was both written and published first, however Hunger Games author Suzanne Collins claims she had never heard of the books until the matter had been brought to her attention... we'll leave it at that. *drops laptop and backs away slowly, then turns and runs*
Crazy Love: Overwhelmed by a Relentless God:
"God is calling you to a passionate love relationship with Himself. Because the answer to religious complacency isnt working harder at a list of do's and dont's - it's falling in love with God. Have you ever wondered if we're missing it? It's crazy, if you think about it. The God of the universe - the creator of nitrogen and pine needles, galaxies and E-minor - loves us with a radical, unconditional, self-sacrificing love. And what is our typical response? We go to church, sing songs, and try not to cuss. Whether you've verbalised it yet or not, we all know something's wrong. Does something deep inside your heart long to break free from the status quo? Are you hungry for an authentic faith that addresses the problems of our world with tangible, even radical, solutions? God is calling you to a passionate love relationship with Himself. Because the answer to religious complacency isn't working harder at a list of do's and don'ts - its falling in love with God. And once you encounter His love, as Francis describes it, you will never be the same. Because when you're wildly in love with someone, it changes everything. 'With an urgency that seeks to awaken a sleeping church mired in the comfort of middle ground, Crazy Love gets to the heart of the matter and leaves you wanting more - more of the matchless Jesus who offers radical life for all' - Louie Giglio" (from Amazon)
